Sacre Coeur
So on Sunday I went up to Montmartre and saw Sacre Coeur and Salvador Dali's house. God, what a view from up there! And the Pigalle area at the base of the hill is pretty hilarious. Aside from the Moulin Rouge, it was sex shop, sex shop, peep show, American fried chicken, sex shop etc. Definitely not a place I want to be caught in late at night
Yesterday I went to the Louvre. Part of the reason I wanted to come back to Paris was so I could wile away my days in museums without having to drag anyone along with me. So I took my sweet time and only made it through one wing in 3 hours! I love to look at each item intently and imagine the artist making it. Or with the artifacts, I like to imagine the time period it came from and what the world was like at that time. So needless to say, not only do I take forever but I wear myself right out. I've been taking hour long naps each evening after I eat dinner. Of course, then I can't fall asleep until quite late but it's not like I have to get up for anything. I slept until noon today. Ha ha. I love being on (almost) permanent vacation.
After the Louvre, I went to Bon Marche, one of Paris' oldest and most famous department stores. I went in there to see if I could find a curling iron (I can't seem to find one anywhere) and of course came out with a shirt. I've been trying not to shop but every store is having "Soldes", the twice earlier sales that they are allowed to have (I believe it's by law, not totally sure). So even with the bad exchange rate you can get a deal right now. So hard to resist!
Anyway, today is going to be another scorcher (it's pretty hot there too isn't it?) so I'm not sure what I want to do as most of the museums are closed on Tuesdays. I might wait until late afternoon and then walk around the Marais. Luckily, it cools off at night quite nicely here. I was worried whether or not I'd be able to sleep without AC but it's been just fine with just the fan.
Well, that's about it for now. Nothing too exciting has happened yet (ie, I have made any major faux pas's to amuse you with).
Talk to you all soon!
